What a beauty! 'Air Canada 16' departs Hong Kong at 15:23 local time for the long transpacific crossing to Toronto. For me it's amazing to imagine that this flight will land in approx. 15 hours on the other side of the world. Anyway, I wonder how good the view must be from the Ngong Ping 360 cable cars in the background on a clear day like that.

Two days before the official ceremony to unveil Dragonair's 25th Anniversary scheme I had the fantastic opportunity to see it parked in a hangar at HAECO where it received its final preparations. As to see the characters on the left side are in Chinese, on the right they are in English.

CX784 is being prepared for the return flight to Hong Kong. In the background can also be seen Lion Airlines' Dreamliner registrationed PK-LFF which would go to Jakarta later the day. There was some heavy rain expected for Bali so airlines hurried to get the planes ready for departure.

'Bayern' awaits its push-back from the gate at Terminal 1 for another service to North America. In the background can be seen the former U.S. Air Base which was already closed in 2005. Since the closure the extra space is used to park aircraft who stay at least for several hours in Frankfurt.

Recently Aeroflot changed its flights to Hong Kong from an B763 to the newer A332. Beginning on 13 July 2010 Aeroflot will receive some tough competition on this route from Cathay Pacific which will introduce its 3 times a week flights to Moscow. Let the battle commence.

The September started really well in Hong Kong! Although the haze was back after months of rather good weather I went to the airport for some spotting. I didn't expect anything special as the schedule looked pretty normal. And then this beauty showed up! I could have asked for better conditions but not for a better plane that day!

A hazy and pretty cool day early 2010 in Hong Kong when I took this photo from the skydeck at Terminal 2. There's quite an interesting collection of airlines from all over the world in town. At the passenger terminal can be seen: Cathay Pacific, Dragonair, United Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, China Airlines, South African Airways, Kingfisher Airlines, Jet Airways (2) and Air Canada. In the distance can also be seen HAECO with at least one plane and a rather empty cargo area to the left as well as one plane just taking off.

A very special photo for me on a very special day with friends, no matter the weather was not really good. After picked up by the helicopter in Causeway Bay and a 10 minutes sightseeing flight over Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, the pilot (as seen on the photo) made a safe landing on the rooftop of "The Peninsula Hong Kong" one of the world's finest hotels where we enjoyed a wonderful High Tea.
